Granddaddy Cardigan

Granddaddy Cardigan

It’s done! The Granddaddy cardigan has been completed and it’s up on kraftling.ca!

I really enjoyed designing the colourwork in this cardigan. It knit up fairly quickly too, and it would’ve been done sooner if I hadn’t paused to work on other projects in between. I loved using the Rowan Pure Wool Worsted for this project – very grampsy with the colours and feel of the sweater (in a good way!).

Wise Owl Book Bags

Since my nieces are too young to be reading my blog, I can post about the Christmas presents I designed and made for them here and not worry about spoiling the surprise. The nieces are both turning into bookworms, which I heartily endorse being a lifelong bookworm myself, and I enjoy picking out books for them and purchased a couple for their Christmas presents. And since I also wanted to knit something for them for Christmas, I thought it’d be nice to do up a couple of bookbags (that will, I realize, in no way suffice for the amount of books they pick up at the library each trip, but should at least carry a couple of books at a time). And what is the best spokesanimal in favour of reading? An owl, I submit:

Sinatra and Vintage-Inspired Earrings

Well, I’ve been thinking about trying my hand at making some resin earrings and buttons for a while now, and I’ve finally completed a few and gotten them ready to list online! I’ve been spending the morning getting pictures done and fine-tuning listings and such, all while being serenaded by good ol’ Frank and other crooners that happen to be on my iPod — fitting considering some of the images, I’d say. We’ve got a scene from Hitchcock’s Marnie, Mary Queen of Scots, Nancy Drew, and a teapot to start with.

Basically, with this new hobby I will indulge my whims of fancy and make all kinds of odd and interesting buttons and earrings in the coming months. What a gas!

New pics, new patterns & the Drums: Encyclopedia

City Mouse Hat and Cowl

I’ve been spending some time this morning uploading new patterns and new pics while listening to the Drums’ album Encyclopedia. I have to admit, I’ve been listening to the Drums pretty incessantly lately; new next-to-favorite band. Encyclopedias has been a good companion this morning: pretty upbeat, matching my mood as I check out all these great pictures.

And so what pictures you ask? Well, my very talented cousin, Breanne Unger, was kind enough to photograph some knits for me from existing patterns and a couple of items for new patterns as well. She did such a wonderful job and I’m so very pleased with the results. Here’s a few samples:

Tea and crochet on a misty morning

This isn’t from today, but a picture I snapped recently on the beach close to home. It was the perfect weather to take tea and crochet down to the water. I love the smell of the ocean; it reminds me of being in Korea. Now I’m hungry for Korean food again… Good thing I have access to a fantastic Korean grocery in Victoria. Thank you Hodori for the ga-nip and red bean pastry! I’ve been dreaming of that red bean pastry for years.
